things you are not liking at all very much today if you are me
Tuesday 26 June 2007 | I like a cookie
1. Being broke and having your credit card bill due, and contemplating taking out money on the credit card to pay the bill, which is worse than moronic.
2. People who write and/or talk all about how done with you they are, how shallow and irritating and forgettable and pathetic and inadequate they find you, and then continually read your blog.
3. Trying to stir cold almond butter and incorporate the oil that floats on top down into the stiffened hard nut stuff.
4. Black long-haired cats covered with tiny flecks of dandruff that will not go away no matter how hard or how often you brush them. And, their grooming appointment isn’t until Friday morning. And, they hate you.
5. Having eaten all the cocoa meringues.
6. The prospect of giving up sugar to which yes thank you very much you are quite definitely addicted.
7. Having already boxed up a novel from which you wanted to quote.
8. Living across town from the Brujo and one of you always having to get in his/her car and go home to feed the cat/dog, dodging tourists (dazed with adobe, heat and/or contemporary art) who totter off the sidewalk right into the street, and road crew pouring tar willy-nilly all over East Alameda (though truly your nightly diaspora will not be long in the remedying).
9. Having only two more sessions left with the DBT, and having wasted one this morning fidgeting and complaining about not wanting to work on the Dying Book but you have to work on the Dying Book because you have to finish it and you need the final payment desperately and besides other people have to work a lot harder at much worse jobs and you know those starving children in Africa would be happy, happy I tell you, if only they could have the very lima beans which you are refusing to eat!
10. Your (tearful, lazy, premenstrual) self.
