things that after all this therapy still make me want to fall on the floor & die

Being overdrawn at the bank. When it’s nearly one a.m. and I’m PMSing and was in workshop from 1:30 until 7:30 getting my brain raked over its own coals and when I teach in mere hours and haven’t graded any papers and just spent a solid hour and a half replying to testy student emails all arm-wrestling with me about WHY AM I NOT GETTING AN A IN YOUR CLASS YOU UNFAIR BIATCH and when I really, really, really (probably) ought to know by now that the car insurance payment (that would be, for the Korean car that will not start and on which no mechanic will work) is not going to hit my checking account when it’s actually due, but today, four days before I get paid.
Berc.
And on the plus side….as ever, a lot of things on the plus side. Like, I just made a killer spur-of-the-moment coconut-milk flan. Like, I bought (with cash! and 50%-off coupons) four whole yards of the prettiest, most swoon-worthy 100% bamboo and organic cotton jersey ever to grace big-box fabric retail—in colors with names like sand (the bamboo) and earth and sky (the organic cotton)—which yards are going to make two devastatingly hot slinky dresses for the me. Like, I have the fecking sweetest girlfriends in the world, who email and text me and send me cute parcels despite the fact that I am too freaked out to do much in the way of even unreliable responding.

Like, the Brujo. Like him. And, like, how after interminable tomorrow is over?
There are only two teaching days left in this semester.
Put on the kettle and powder your noses, girls; the party’s about to start.

Only two days left?! Lucky you. Can you believe we are just on spring break right now? My teaching juices are running dry.
