Ouch! That must be some back pain, because I really don't want to think about the other. Um, have you actually done that? I don't think my washer works if the door is open. Regardless, I hope you feel better soon.

Oh, and I don't think I've commented here before, so I'll introduce myself a teensy bit. I ran into one of your comments on that very interesting thread on the Sitting with Fire blog. I'm a librarian in Santa Cruz county. And a language nut and reading addict. And a wife and mom. All of those in no particular order.

And hmm, seeing as you want my patronymic below, I will use the one I kind of gave myself as an undergrad Russian major (linguistics minor), based on my Dad's made up name.

Editorinskaya: Beautiful pseudonym—I'm thrilled to have you here! Quite a little blazing thread, weren't it?
As it happens my mom's mom did once get (her hand) caught in the wringer washer; and, too flustered to hit the little lever which would have sprung the rollers apart and released her, she just...rolled her hand back out the way it came in. Sigh. No permanent damage; I'm just saying, this is how women in my family "think."

But then you've been reading thishyar blog-shaped object, so you already know that.

Ibuprofen can be your friend, however there are rules (there are always rules). Ibuprofen flushes from the system entirely within 4 hrs so if you don't stay on top of the dosage, you lose the benefits. you have to keep taking it, wake yourself up at night, and again in the morning, to stay ahead of the pain, run the course for 6-8 days, no deviations. (There is probably a metaphor for life in here somewheres.) And you can find system-wide relief....

Ibuprofen is a great drug, heaven knows where I would be w/o it, but I think a lot of people don't know the facts about it, or most over-the-counter drugs...maybe even kept in the dark by the medical professionals says the imp on the left shoulder. When dealing with pain, the important part of any drug is to set down rules and stay ahead of the pain.

Spasming editor: Oh yeah, we're all about staying ahead of the pain curve, thanks to ample experience with analgesics!

Boo, that sounds pants. Ibuprofen is your friend—lots of ibuprofen. And ice on the hurty bit. And massage.

Hope it rights itself soon. x
